19. - 21. apríl 2024 Myndir án tilgangs, eða Í samtímalist er allt mögulegt, nema að efast. Sýning mín hjá Kaktus samsteypunni í listagilinu á Akureyri. Titillinn vísaði til þessa að myndirnar eru sjálfsprottnar og án formaðrar hugmyndar annars vegar, hinns vegar leysi notagldisinns sem er bæði fegurð og akkilesarhæll listanna. Undirtitillinn er á hinnbóginn nokkuð spot on, það er alltaf verið að reyna að gera listina gildandi. Þar tek ég fullan þátt vitandi um þversögnina. Opnar í Kaktus Kaupvangsstræti 8 - 12 á Akureyri föstudaginn 19. apríl kl. 20. Myndir án tilgangs samanstendur af nýjum málverkum, akríl á pappír og blýantsteikningum þar sem listamaðurinn lætur hendina reika í algjöru hugsunsrtleysi um myndflötinn eða því sem næst, án nokkurrar sannfæringar eða tilgangs. Er þetta list? Aðalsteinn Þórsson f. 1964 í Eyjafirði. 1989 hóf hann nám í Myndlistaskólanum á Akureyri. Hann lauk MFA námi frá Dutch Artinstitute, ArtEz árið 1998, þá Aki2 í borginni Enchede í Hollandi, Aðalsteinn hefur verið starfandi myndlistamaður síðan. Fyrst í Hollandi en hefur verið búsettur á Íslandi frá árinu 2016. Hann hefur haldið fjölda einkasýninga, tekið þátt í samsýningum og viðburðum auk þess að vera sýningarstjóri. Aðalsteinn hefur einnig látið að sér kveða í félagsmálum menningarinnar. Megin verkefni hans er þó Einkasafnið, umhverfisverk sem hann starfrækir í gróðurvin í Eyjafjarðarsveit 10 km. sunnan Akureyrar, auk þess að teikna og mála í frístundum. Það er erfitt að losna undan gömlum vana. Sýningin verður opin 19. frá kl. 20, 20. apríl 14 -17 og 21 apríl frá 15 - 18. Aðeins þessi eina sýningarhelgi. - April 19 - 21, 2024 Pictures without a purpose, or In contemporary art, everything is possible, except to doubt. My exhibition at the Kaktus group in the art guild in Akureyri. The title referred to the fact that the images are spontaneous and without a formed idea on the one hand, on the other hand the solution of utility which is at the same time the beauty and the Achilles heel of art. The subtitle, on the other hand, is quite spot on, there is always the tendency to make the art valid. Where I fully participate aware of the paradox. Here is the text of the exhibition: Art exhibition by Aðalstein Þórsson, Pictures without meaning, or In contemporary art, everything is possible, except to doubt. Opens in Kaktus Kaupvangstræti 8 - 12 in Akureyri on Friday April 19 at 20. Pictures without a purpose consists of new paintings, acrylic on paper and pencil drawings where the artist lets his hand wander in complete thoughtlessness around the picture surface, without any conviction or purpose. Is this art? Aðalsteinn Þorsson b. 1964 in Eyjafjörður. In 1989 he started studying at the Art School in Akureyri. He completed his MFA studies from the Dutch Artinstitute, ArtEz in 1998, then Aki2 in the city of Enchede in the Netherlands, Aðalsteinn has been a working visual artist ever since. First in the Netherlands, but has been living in Iceland since 2016. He has held numerous solo exhibitions, participated in group exhibitions and events as well as being a curator. Aðalsteinn has also been working in the social issues of culture. His main project, however, is the Personal Collection, an environmental project that he operates in a grove of trees in Eyjafjörður 10 km. south of Akureyri. As well as drawing and painting in his free time - old habits are hard to break. The exhibition will be open on the 19th from 20, 20 April 14 -17 and 21 April from 15 - 18.
